more information about the font
Released by Berthold in 2000, Futura BQ is a new version of the well-known geometric sans serif typeface design by Paul Renner and the Bauer typefoundry. Futura BQ is a totally new digital interpretation of Futura by noted Berthold type designer, Dieter Hofrichter of Münich, Germany. His interpretation emphasizes the consistency of Renner's original design yet satisfies the current needs of design professionals.
Futura BQ offers the following improvements: a uniform series of weights; small caps and old style figures for all roman and condensed weights; and Euro symbols for all roman and condensed weights. In addition, Berthold's new version of Futura eliminates the inherent problems (e.g. quirky incisions and unnecessary shadows) of earlier PostScript versions resulting from their photosetting origins.
